Why a new centre?

This project addresses real needs: lack of space, limited accessibility, and aging infrastructure.
It will offer residents a modern, inclusive, and future-focused place to gather.

A library at the heart of the Centre

  • Three times more seating for reading, studying, and quiet focus
  • More display space for collections and browsing
  • A variety of areas: quiet, playful, and enclosed study rooms
  • Wi-Fi both indoors and outdoors
  • A zen room to retreat to during moments of crisis or overstimulation
  • Bright, comfortable, inclusive spaces for every generation

With over 90,000 visits each year, the Library will be a year-round anchor, strengthening its role as a community hub by uniting generations through knowledge, creativity, and shared experiences.

A stage for local talent

A space dedicated to expression, creation, and culture in all its forms.
Beaconsfield’s new Centre will:

  • Double its cultural programming and performances
  • Host indoor events to accomodate groups of 150-200 people
  • Feature exhibits throughout the building and outdoors
  • Integrate artworks into the architecture
  • Offer shows and activities in a variety of settings: café, lobby, studios, outdoor spaces, and an agora
  • Give artists the chance to interact with the public and take part in creative residencies

A space to create, repair, and learn

The Technology and Creation Lab will be a place to experiment, collaborate, and innovate, with:

  • Equipment for video editing, audio recording, textile art, and DIY projects
  • Intergenerational workshops with local partners, focused on technology, culture, and memory
  • Workstations and tools for on-site digitizing and printing

This lab will promote sustainability, cooperation, and knowledge-sharing. Our popular community repair days will also take place here.

A space that feels good

More than just a municipal building, the Centre will be a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive living space: a place to connect, recharge, and simply feel at home.

You’ll find:

  • A lakeside café-bistro with a terrace, ideal for coffee, meals, or drinks with friends
  • Comfortable nooks for relaxing, chatting, socializing, or taking a break close to home
  • A large multipurpose hall available to rent for life’s special events: baptisms, weddings, anniversaries, celebrations
  • Fully accessible spaces designed to accommodate sensory and cognitive needs, with clear, inclusive signage
  • A diverse and vibrant program for all ages and life stages: kids, teens, families, seniors, neurodivergent or disabled individuals

A gathering space you’ll want to return to again and again.

A sustainable Centre in harmony with nature

The Cultural Centre will blend harmoniously into its surroundings, respecting the park, the river and our collective future. Designed according to the principles of sustainable development, it will feature inspiring architecture and exemplary environmental performance.

  • A wooden structure, built with sustainable and locally sourced materials to reduce the carbon footprint
  • A green roof that blends into the landscape and improves energy efficiency
  • A layout that respects the natural terrain and mature trees in the park
  • Rainwater management through green basins and permeable surfaces
  • Strategies to optimize natural light inside the building
  • Features that promote biodiversity and greening
  • A building designed to be resilient, with an integrated generator in case of emergency
  • Examplary universal accessibility, for an inclusive and barrier-free environment

While the project does not aim for formal certification, it embraces an environmentally responsible approach – contributing positively to its context, both environmentally and socially.

A model of balance between innovation, simplicity, and beauty.

Culture. Nature. Community. Three pillars brought together in one place: sustainable, inclusive, and future-focused.
