A community story, told together
The Community Wall celebrates the people who believe in the power of culture, learning and connection.
Inspired by the movement of stars across the night sky, the Community Wall transforms individual acts of generosity into a collective constellation. Each plaque represents a story, a memory, a family, a friendship or a tribute that helped bring the Beaconsfield Cultural Centre to life. As one of the first things visitors will see when they enter the building, it will celebrate our community.
Together, these sparks of generosity create something greater than themselves: a lasting legacy woven into the heart of the Centre and the life of the community.

Frequently asked questions
About the Community Wall
How is this different from other donor recognition?
The Community Wall is designed as an accessible way for residents, families and groups to become part of the story of the future Cultural Centre.
Major donors ($5,000+) who support specific spaces are recognized separately through naming opportunities and the Major Donors Wall.
Why are the names displayed vertically?
The vertical design is inspired by the movement of stars across the night sky and by the architectural language of the Cultural Centre.
The plaques echo the vertical lines found throughout the building, allowing the Community Wall to feel fully integrated into the space rather than appearing as a separate element.
Unlike a traditional donor wall, which is often read at a glance, the Community Wall is designed to be discovered. The vertical plaques invite visitors to explore the installation, creating a more contemplative experience while highlighting the many stories that helped bring the Centre to life.
The concept also grows naturally over time. Whether it includes 50, 100, 150 or 200 plaques, the wall remains visually cohesive, allowing each new story to become part of the larger composition.
Is space on the Community Wall limited?
Yes, the Community Wall has space for a maximum of 200 plaques.
Plaques will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
We encourage anyone interested in participating to reserve their spot early.
Participation and donations
How can I be part of the Community Wall?
Anyone who makes a donation between $1,000 and $4,999 may reserve a plaque on the Community Wall. (businesses are not eligible)
To participate, simply complete the online registration form and make your donation online (form via CanadaHelps) or by cheque (form to fill out online). Participants will be invited to provide a personalized inscription of up to 25 characters, including spaces and punctuation.
Only 200 plaques are available and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
How do the two participation levels work?
The Community Wall offers two participation levels to provide flexibility and allow residents to contribute at a level that is meaningful to them.
- Level 1: $1,000 to $2,499 (plaque with silver finish)
- Level 2: $2,500 to $4,999 (plaque with champagne finish)
All participants are recognized through a plaque of the same size. The distinction between the two levels is reflected through the plaque finish.
Whether you choose Level 1 or Level 2, your contribution will become part of a collective work of art celebrating our community.
Can I reserve more than one plaque?
Yes, subject to availability.
Some participants choose to reserve multiple plaques to recognize different family members, honour loved ones or celebrate multiple stories and connections.
A separate inscription form must be completed for each plaque.
I want to make my donation by cheque. Is that possible?
Yes. While we encourage participants to donate online, donations by cheque are also accepted. To reserve a spot on the Community Wall, please complete the inscription form.
Cheques may be mailed or delivered to City Hall. Payment must be received within five business days to secure your reservation.
Can I pay for my spot on the Community Wall in installments?
No. Donations for the Community Wall must be made through a single payment at the time of registration.
For larger gifts associated with naming opportunities, flexible pledge arrangements may be available.
Please contact Patrice Boileau, Director General, for more details: patrice.boileau@beaconsfield.ca
What happens once all 200 plaques have been reserved?
The Community Wall has a limited capacity of 200 plaques. Once all plaques have been reserved, no additional inscriptions can be accommodated.
Donations to the Campaign will continue to be accepted through other giving opportunities, including naming opportunities throughout the Cultural Centre.
Plaques and inscriptions
What can appear on a plaque?
Many participants choose a family name, a tribute, the name of a loved one or another meaningful inscription.
Examples include:
- Famille Dubois-Léger
- In Memory of Ann Rice
- Le Club des marcheurs
- Friends of Woodland St.
- À Juju & Will, de maman
Plaques may recognize:
- An individual
- A family or household
- A loved one
- A group of friends or neighbours
- A local community organization, club or association
All inscriptions must fit within the 25-character limit, including spaces and punctuation.
Is there a character limit?
Yes. Each inscription is limited to 25 characters, including spaces and punctuation.
This limit helps maintain visual harmony and readability across the entire installation.
Will names appear in different sizes?
No. All plaques are the same size, measuring approximately 1.625″ × 8″ (4.1 cm × 20.3 cm).
This reflects the spirit of the Community Wall, where every participant contributes to a shared story and collective legacy.
While there are two recognition levels, the distinction is made through the plaque finish rather than the plaque size, preserving the beauty and unity of the overall design.
Can my inscription be something other than my name? Are there any restrictions?
Yes. You can choose to include your name, the name of someone special to you or other wording as long as it falls within the 25-character limit, including spaces and punctuation.
Inscriptions may not include:
- Profanity or offensive language
- Political messages or endorsements
- Websites, phone numbers or social media handles
- Commercial advertising or promotional messaging
- Emojis or symbols that cannot be reproduced
The City of Beaconsfield reserves the right to reject inscriptions that do not conform with guidelines.
Can my message be in another language than French or English?
Yes. The Community Wall celebrates the many people, families and cultures that make up our community. Messages may be submitted in languages other than French or English, provided they comply with the Community Wall guidelines and fit within the available space.
All inscriptions are subject to review and approval by the City of Beaconsfield prior to production.
The maximum inscription length is 25 characters, including spaces.
Please note that some special characters, symbols or writing systems will require verification before production.
Recognition and visibility
Can I choose where my message will be located on the wall?
No. The Community Wall has been designed as a collective work of art, and plaques will be placed according to the overall composition of the installation.
To ensure a fair process, individual plaque locations cannot be reserved or selected.
While plaque locations will vary, all plaques are designed to be visible and appreciated as part of the overall installation. Every contribution helps shape the collective legacy celebrated by the Community Wall.
How do I find the location of my message? When will it be installed?
Once the Community Wall has been installed, a guide will be created to help participants locate their plaque.
The Community Wall will be unveiled as part of the opening of the Beaconsfield Cultural Centre, currently planned for Summer 2028.
Can I purchase a plaque as a gift for someone else?
Yes. Many participants choose to recognize a parent, grandparent, mentor, friend or loved one through their inscription.
A plaque can celebrate someone who has made a difference in your life, honour a special relationship or commemorate an important milestone.
If I make a donation, can I remain anonymous?
Participation on the Community Wall is entirely optional. If you prefer not to be recognized publicly, you may still support the Campaign through a regular donation or another giving option.
Please contact the Campaign team if you have questions regarding donor recognition and anonymity: centre.culture@beaconsfield.ca
Languages and eligibility
Can families or groups give together?
Yes. Families, households, local groups and even a group of neighbours may choose to give together and be recognized under a shared name.
Can businesses be recognized through the Community Wall or naming opportunities?
No. The Community Wall and naming opportunities are intended to recognize philanthropic contributions made by individuals, families and local community groups.
Business names, logos and promotional recognition are not permitted as part of the donor recognition program for the Beaconsfield Cultural Centre.
This approach helps preserve the civic character of the Cultural Centre and ensures that recognition remains focused on community generosity rather than advertising.
If I support a naming opportunity, will I also appear on the Community Wall?
No. The Community Wall and naming opportunities are separate recognition programs.
Donors who select a naming opportunity are recognized through the named space and on the Major Donors Wall.
As a result, they are not eligible for inclusion on the Community Wall.
